What is “Pocket WiFi”?

When you rent a‘Pocket Wifi’you will receive a smart phone sized device, which acts as a mobile wireless router. It fits comfortably into any pocket or handbag and creates a personal WiFi zone with a reach of around 10 meters. You can connect up to 10 wireless devices simultaneously, so if you are a travelling family of five you can all get online with one single ‘Pocket WiFi’ device.

Why You Need Pocket WiFi in Japan?

There are rarely free WiFi hotsports in Japan. Sometimes you can find some free hotspots in public place like station or cafe, but it is not convenient and easy to use since most of them requires log in to all-Japanese website or they shut a connection after you used it for 15 minutes. The limited WiFi access make it difficult to stay connected while travelling. If you want to access the Internet anytime and anywhere while in Japan, renting a mobile WiFi device is your best option.
A Pocket WiFi is easy to use and easy to set up. You can use the Pocket WiFi with notebooks, tablets, and smartphones.

Do I need to make a contract with provider?

You can use Pocket WiFi router only by contracting with us.

Do I need to pay for communication charge?

No, you need not.
Communication charge is already included in the rental fee.
Also, there is no data limit.

Is it possible to use with my foreign device?

Yes, our WiFi device can be used with any WiFi enabled device. It does not be a matter if your device has foreign OS.

How many Gigabyte can I use, and which device is suitable for me?

For E-mobile LTE: 10GB a month with highspeed connection. This limitation will renew every month, so if your rental period is 3/20 – 4/10 for example you can use 10GB with highspeed in March and another 10GB in April. When you used up 10GB in a month you can still use data though speed will be limited. For the details of this limitation, please see on EMOBILE website. We recommend this device for daily use; checking e-mail, googlemap or short talk on the skype. For au WiFi WALKER LTE HWD 11: There is no limitation. We recommend this device if you are a heavy user who uses big data like streaming movie. Its connection is wide, if your itenirary is in suburbs like Hokkaido Sky resort, Tohoku area or Shikoku pilgrimage this device is suitable. (Normally this device will have speed limit after you used up 7GB a month. For this service, we are paying extra data fee after 7GB usage.) If you are worried about which device to choose, please ask us.

Should I apply for damage insurance?

Yes, we recommend our customer to apply this. It will prevent a expensive compensation fee if any problem (eg, lost / break of WiFi device) occers for device. Without insurance, you might be charged ten times a fee for those with insurance.

Is it possible to configure VPN settings?

You can not use VPN settings.

Is it possible to us VoIP software like Skype or Viber?

Yes, you can use them.
However these softwares are likely to use much data amount, please be noted when you choose E-mobile device.

Are there any other software which are cannot be used with pocket WiFi?

It is not possible to use P2P file sharing softwares, or any illegal use.
