On 16th July 1950, Uruguay and Brazil fought the final worldcup match at Estadio do Maracana.

At this cup, condition of Brazil was excellent. They had defeated sewden by 7-1 and Spain by 6-1. And last match was taken place in their home, many soccer fans predicted Brazil would be a champion.
Now uniform of Brazil national team is canary yellow but at that match they wore in white uniform.

When game starts, Brazil got first goal and everyone convinced Brazil would be a champion. However in fact, on 21minutes last half Uruguay got a game-tying goal and on 34minutes they got another goal. The game ended in won by Uruguay.

Brazil supporters were too shocked with this result. 20 of them got faint, 2 of them committed suicide and another 2 of them died of shock. This match became the worst incident in Brazil soccer history. Since then they changed a uniform color to canary yellow to forget this sad experience.
This is the event, called “Phantom of the 50”.

At this worldcup final, it will be hold at the same studiam, Estadio do Maracana. New drama will be made this final!
